L.D. Dexheimer & Son, Inc.

The history of...

The Dexheimer's have been in the Building Moving and Rigging Business since 1874.

It was Peter Dexheimer's idea way back then.

In 1900, L.D. Dexheimer started working for his uncle Peter. Then in 1921, L.D. Dexheimer started his own building moving and rigging business in Guilford, New York.  His son Newton D. Dexheimer grew up helping to move buildings and continued until 1966. In the meantime, Newton's sons, John N. and David L. started working with Newton in 1955.  To date, John N. Dexheimer is still moving buildings and rigging machinery.

Over the years, the moving business has changed considerably.  In the "old days" the moving was done with horses, soap and grease, wood timbers, and capstans.  These days, trucks, hydraulic jacks, steel beams, and hydraulic steerable dollies are used.
